Thomas Fernandez is a multi-disciplinary artist hailing from San Diego, CA, and a lifelong surfer and skateboarder who's never strayed far from either.
A Style All His Own
Not one to put himself in a box, Thomas' work spans illustration, tattooing, painting, chalk pastels, sculpture, music and more. It's rare to see someone working across so many mediums and make it all look effortless. Thomas does exactly that. Even more impressive is that, no matter the canvas, it's all unmistakably him. Every piece feels like a genuine expression of who he is.
Trading Precision for Freedom
His day job at Santa Cruz Skateboards requires line work that's extremely detailed and predominantly done with brush + ink. As a creative break from that, he'll often turn to chalk pastels as a way to decompress. Loose lines with an even looser plan and no expectations. Our latest collaboration is the first time Thomas branched out and used this medium for commercial work. Not unlike getting into the groove on your Indo Board, this release captures the creative freedom and natural flow that only shows up when you let go.
