Questions before you start?

sure you have a couple

Pretty much any flat surface.  For beginners the Indo Board Carpet is an ideal addition because it slows the roller down a little (the carpet is also super cool).  Hard surfaces like wood floors or concrete are great too – especially if you are looking for more roller speed.

Like all sports and training tools, the Indo Board takes a small amount of practice for most people and some people get right on the board and go.  Like any balance board, there is a risk of falling which means you are using Indo Boards at your own risk.   Starting with the Indo Flo Cushion is a good place to start for most people.  There are so many things you can do on an Indo Board – it takes a little time to learn and a lifetime to master!  HERE is a great Beginner’s Guide to get started on your Indo Board.

No.  You can enjoy the Indo Board in bare feet, socks, sandals, sneakers, or boots!  Most people prefer sneakers or bare feet.

  • Shape and size - the Original is slightly shorter and wider (30” x 18”) than the Rocker (33” x 16”)
  • Curvature – the Original is perfectly flat, and the Rocker has slight reverse-camber design.
  • Bottom – the Orignal has inlaid wood “stops” at either end which help to prevent the deck from rolling off of the roller.  The Rocker has no “stops” which enables full range of motion.
  • Original – great for everyone from beginners to experts.  The flat surface and “stops” Untitled spreadsheet on the bottom of the board make this board a better starting point for most riders.
  • Rocker – this board is great for experts…full range of motion, increased roller speed from the rocker shape make this the perfect board for performing tricks like 180 and 360 spins.
  • Size – the Foam Roller is 6” in diameter and the Plastic Roller has a 6.5” in diameter.
  • Feel – the Foam Roller is slightly softer and grippier than the Plastic Roller, which many beginners find preferrable.  The Plastic Roller is more rigid and also has three 2” bands of grip tape designed to provide the perfect amount of grip for performing tricks.  The Plastic Roller has been the standard Indo Board roller for decades.

Indo Boards improve a person's balance by forcing the body to engage stabilizer muscles to stay upright on an unstable surface. When you stand on the board using the roller, your body constantly makes small adjustments to maintain equilibrium. This activates core muscles, ankles, legs, and even the upper body, training your neuromuscular system to react more quickly and efficiently to shifts in weight and movement. Over time, this strengthens coordination, balance, and overall proprioception (body awareness).
