Perhaps no other sport defines the culture of Indo Board better than surfing. The Indo Board was originally developed to be an indoor surfing trainer that helps surfers by providing balance training and core exercises that not only help beginner surfers to learn to surf but also provide advanced surfers with a balance board that allows them to perform surf workouts and advanced surf exercises anytime and anywhere. Top fitness trainers throughout the world have been using the Indo Board to train all levels of surfers since 1998. Indo Board fitness trainers have developed specific surf workouts and the best surfing exercises to help surfers improve their balance, stability and overall surfing performance. No other balance training device has the versatility and functionality of the Indo Board Balance Trainer.
Strength training is a must to become a stronger surfer, and to improve my balance and center of gravity. I use my Indo Board almost every day. “If you want to improve your coordination and athleticism, you need to add the Indo Board into your routine."
Corey Howell, Two-time National Collegiate Surfing Champion
How can the Indo Board help me with surfing?
Surfing requires that you keep your center of gravity low while also maintaining a stable, upright, shoulders back posture. In order to achieve that a surfer must learn to squat with very minimal bend at the waist (think the perfect “tube stance’) all while standing on a moving surface. This requires a great deal of core strength, balance, stability and the ability to shift your weight between from one foot to the other. The Indo Board teaches the rider all of these critical elements.
What about surf trainers that focus only on side to side (rail to rail) movement?
While the rail to rail movement on a surfboard is necessary to change direction, the real key to surfing is learning to properly distribute your weight between your front foot and back foot. This front to back distribution of weight is critical for your stability through big turns and paramount to generating and varying your speed while on a wave. Side to side or rail to rail movement can be trained on the Indo Board as well by using our IndoFLO cushion under the deck (instead of a roller).
